When I take a beating I need Band-Aid healing
The Sean Ward Show on Michaelnus.com
@Seanward, @H3rscu, @katlangdon and yours truly were hanging out at the CNE yesterday (Torontoites call it the Ex) and we had ourselves a swell time rain or shine.
There were a few things we wanted to accomplish at this year’s ex and through diligence and a LOT of patience I’m happy to say that we pretty much covered them all.
Task 1: Eat something at the Food Building – Check
Task 2: Track down the much hyped “deep fried butter” – check
Task 3: Order and consume the deep fried butter (bonus points for chocolate covered bacon and Tiny Tom donuts) – check
Task 4: Ride at least one vomit-inducing ride after eating all that food – check
Task 5: Run amok a little while before going to the tweetup at Yorkville – check
Kat had to leave early so she didn’t get to have the butter or take a ride, but she did get her Tiny Tom fix, and let’s be honest here: If you don’t get Tiny Tom’s at the Ex (a staple food for many years there), then it’s like you didn’t go at all. On the way to walking her to her car we noticed a mobile recording booth plastered (pardon the pun) in Band-Aid logos and I was itching to investigate. Turns out Band-Aid brand bandages is touring the country looking for the best jingle singer around. All you have to do is sign up and sing the familiar “stuck on Band-Aid” jingle and they will post your video on their site.
I wanted to do something special for them since Band-Aid has been with me all my life and reminds me of those rough and tumble days as a little boy when I would play hard and come back home with a few nicks and scrapes. My dad, who used to be an army medic, swore by Band-Aid and would only buy that brand because they lasted long and kept the cuts clean no matter how dirty I got. Haha, I’ll never forget how he used to do field dressings on my banged up knee – he would cut off a layer of onion, heat it up over the stove and place it between my cut and the Band-Aid. I guess those were the days before Band-Aid added “Advanced Healing” to their bandages. Luckily today I don’t have to smell like onion to get the same effect.
So on the way back from the car, I cobbled up an original jingle of my own and by the time we got back to the recording booth it was ready to rock. Here’s a link to the video they took of me on their site. I think on August 31 they are opening up the videos to votes, so please vote for me (and you know I will remind you anyway) and maybe I can win the contest!
Stay tuned over at Seanward.net for a video blog of our day at the Ex! Should be up later this evening!
UPDATE: Sean put the video up and it’s good times! Here’s the link, so show him some love.
